Travel to Santa Barbara
The easiest way to get to Santa Barbara is through the air. Santa Barbara has a local airport (SBA) convenient located 2 minutes away from UCSB and 10 minutes away from downtown Santa Barbara and the beach. Several daily flights go between SBA and LA, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, etc.
To get from SBA to Fess parker, the best option is to take Fess Parker's complimentary shuttle straight to the hotel. If you call the hotel before your arrival with your flight information, a shuttle will be waiting for you outside the terminal. You can also take a taxi (~ $40-45), or take the SuperShuttle (~ $23).Another option is to fly to Los Angeles (LAX) or Burbank Airport and drive up. It is approximately 90 miles between Santa Barbara and LAX/Burbank. The drive takes between 1.5 to 3 hours depending on traffic conditions. Or, you can take the Santa Barbara Airbus, a bus that goes between several locations in Santa Barbara and LAX, approximately 2.5-3 hours travel time, $80 round-trip. For those interested in a longer and more scenic drive, Santa Barbara is roughly 320 miles from San Francisco (SFO).
For visa letters, please send a request to almeroth@cs.ucsb.edu. Letters will only be provided for speakers, committee members, and those who have paid their registration fee.
